"It is a real honour to be marching through the borough of Oadby and Wigston, which has so much history and connection to our regiment.

"I am proud of each and every soldier that has trained and served as part of this Squadron. They all deserve their special day to march, and we would love to see the local people stepping out to celebrate with us."

Recruiting from a wide area, drawing our members from all over Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Northamptonshire and further a-field.

The Royal Yeomanry train to work alongside the regular army in reconnaissance and the detection and decontamination of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazards.  This means that Yeomanry soldiers cross train in a number of disciplines from basic infantry work, to cross country driving, to technical skills.  A considerable proportion of the Squadron have applied these skills on operations in Iraq and  continue to train to the highest standards.

The Squadron enjoys very strong links with the Regular Army, in particular the 9th/12th Lancers with whom a number of soldiers have served recently in Iraq.
