Officer's felt hat badge (2nd Boer War): A large rose in
khaki-bronze matt finish paint (worn off the above example), 5cm
in diameter. Worn with a stamen between two petals at
top-centre. Approved 25th of August 1902 (KK1333).
SNCO Helmet Plate 1902, the above example is one of only ten
made for the coronation of the King (see helmet example below). This example has never been
worn and in a private collection. The reverse of the badge has 4
threaded posts for fixing into the DY Albert helmet. Normally
"all" ranks wore the monarchs cypher and the 1902 coronation was
the first time the Derbyshire Rose appeared (only for senior
NCO's) on the Dragoon Helmet and possibly the only time as by
1911 the helmet had been withdrawn from service.
Officers Gilt Victorian Helmet cipher c1847-1902.
Sabretache rose c1890, this is a
large badge.
Early 1800s helmet badge, these two items were sold on eBay as
separate items but it could be that a Derbyshire rose fits into
the middle of the ring and worn on the Shako helmet.
